Despite announcing another death on April 10, Manitoba saw the active number of cases of COVID-19 in the province decline.

Manitoba’s chief provincial health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, said the man who died lived in Winnipeg and was in his 70s. Over ninety people are listed as “recovered” in the province.

“we have some early indications [social distancing] may be paying dividends for us, but it's way too early to conclude that - It's way too early to loosen up on those activities,” Roussin said.

Manitobans need to stay home, especially when they're ill, and that includes any mild symptoms, even runny nose coughs, sore throat and certainly fever.”

Ten Manitobans remain in hospital fighting the disease. There are still only three confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region.

“This virus is there, in every health region in Manitoba,” Roussin said.

“No Manitoban should feel safe from it right now. All Manitobans should be practicing social distancing at all times.”

Roussin continued to warn Manitobans to stay home during the holiday weekend.

“Do not invite family over for Easter Passover, please do it virtually. Please stay connected,” he said.

“Social distancing is not social isolation. Make sure we're connected especially with vulnerable groups.”

The COVID-19 testing facility in Flin Flon will remain open (only by referral) over the holiday weekend.
