The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has announced its two major year end statistical award winners as well as the finalists for the other major year end awards. The SJHL scoring champion for 2009-10 is 1989 F Travis Janke (Swift Current SK) of the Notre Dame Hounds. Janke had a torrid December and January to separate himself from the pack, finishing with a league high 36 goals (tied with Andrew Dommett of Kindersley) and 47 assists for 83 points in 56 games. Runners-up were 1989 F Mike Rey (Winnipeg MB) of the Flin Flon Bombers and 1989 F Rhett Bly (Regina SK) of the Weyburn Red Wings. The SJHL Top Goaltender, for lowest goals against average, is 1989 G AJ Whiffen (Grand Falls-Windsor NF). Whiffen posted a 2.26-GAA and a sparkling .924-SPCT (second in the league). He also compiled a 22-5-and-3 won/loss record and as a further showing of consistency he established an all-time record for most SJHL career shutouts (11) over his three year career.
