Former Flin Flon resident Isaac Jackson is thrilled at the possibility of suiting up for the Flin Flon Bombers.
The squad announced last week that the 18-year-old defenceman was one of the prospects recently signed to a standard card. He was among the players who impressed the Bombers brass at their recent spring camp.
Jackson lived in Flin Flon until he was 14, at which time his family moved to Warman.
“It’s always been a dream of mine,” Jackson said of playing for Flin Flon. “I’ve been watching the Bombers since I was two years old, so it is very exciting to be signing and being another step closer to becoming a Bomber.”
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound blueliner suited up for the Beardy’s Blackhawks in the AAA midget ranks this past winter. In 42 games, Jackson had six goals, 18 points, and 79 penalty minutes.
“He was the leading scorer on the blueline for Beardy’s last year and he has developed into a great skating defenceman who possesses great poise with the puck,” Flin Flon head coach Mike Reagan said on the team’s website.
