Bomber Game Report

Shutout, shutout, shutout - no jinxes here. The Bombers got a 1-0 win in their first game of the SJHL Showcase.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Jacob Vockler, who bulged the twine with a top-shelf shot in the first period. Vockler was playing his first game of the season after recovering from an injury sustained in preseason.

Despite constant pressure from Yorkton in the second and third periods, Cal Schell did not yield, getting his first shutout since Feb. 2020. Schell made 45 saves for the win, while Terriers goalie Kael DePape stopped 27 Flin Flon shots.

The win gives Flin Flon a 4-2 record on the season and eight points. That puts the Bombers in a tie with the Nipawin Hawks for second spot overall in the league by points and a tie for fourth spot in points percentage. The Bombers also have the league's top powerplay, scoring on 29 per cent of their chances with a man or more up so far this year.

The Bombers will play again Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Flin Flon time, facing off against the Kindersley Klippers in their second of two showcase games in Warman.
