Harry Styles at the heart of an unexpected controversy in the run-up to September 11

Harry Styles is in big trouble. As the singer continues his very popular residency at Madison Square Garden in New York, some Internet users are denouncing the illustration appearing on a show ticket distributed this week.

The controversy concerns a ticket from his September 9 concert. The visual shows a yellow car appearing to transport the artist above the Empire State Building, leaving behind a trail that crosses the spire of the famous New York skyscraper.

If the illustration was intended to be playful and fanciful, several Internet users pointed out that it appeared just a few days before the 25th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, a particularly sensitive date in New York. This proximity has pushed some fans to establish a parallel which they consider unfortunate between the image and the tragic events which marked American history.

No one is claiming that Harry Styles and his team intended to cause harm, but the question begs: how could such an image be approved for such a sensitive date?

This would be an unfortunate coincidence and an interpretation influenced by the timing chosen for its broadcast.

For the moment, neither Harry nor his team have commented, but new dates and new tickets have been put on sale for fans. A way to make amends?
