Mary Elizabeth Lloyd (Shipley) of 10 Churchill Avenue, Flin Flon, MB, passed away suddenly at the Flin Flon General Hospital at the age of 78 years. She was born July 22, 1928, the oldest of ten children, to Tom and Edith Shipley in Grandview, MB. She received her education in Sherridon and The Pas. After leaving school, she met and married Richard (Dick) Lloyd in Mafeking, MB, on July 23, 1951. They had three daughters: Karen Schiltroth, Bonnie Butts and Kathy Lloyd. During her married life she lived in Mafeking, Winnipeg, Selkirk, Grand Rapids, Creighton, and finally Flin Flon. While living in Grand Rapids she worked for Gil and Audrey Hobbs looking after Pine Grove Cabins in the summer. After leaving Grand Rapids and moving to Selkirk, she went to work at the Selkirk Nursing Home. She worked in the kitchen for a few years and then in the laundry. She also worked at Red River Place in the laundry until she retired in 1982. When she wasn't working she loved to garden, knit, do puzzles and read books. She was predeceased by her husband Dick, parents Tom and Edith Shipley; her brother Larry and his wife Elaine; brother Keith; brother-in-law Chris Lloyd and his wife Emily; brother-in-law Charles Lloyd and his wife Betty; son-in-law Ken Schiltroth and son-in-law Rick Butts. She is survived by her daughters Karen Schiltroth of Mafeking, MB; Bonnie Butts of Flin Flon, MB; and Kathy Lloyd (Dick Warden) of Flin Flon, MB; her brothers Bill (Marion), Bob (Brenda) of Winnipeg, MB; Glen (Lynn) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; Cliff (Marlene) of Sparwood, BC; and Ross (Darlene) of Calgary, AB; her sisters Shirley Deveries (Don) of St. Anne, MB and Ilene Stevenson (Con) of Brandon, MB. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley Shipley (Keith) of Surrey, BC and Betty Shipley (Larry) of Victoria, BC; her grandchildren Keri Ann Schiltroth (Tom Flood) of Fredrick, Maryland, U.S.A. and Kevan Schiltroth of Mafeking, MB. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary passed away on September 16, 2006. The funeral was held on September 28, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dadson Funeral Home. Rev. Raymond Knight officiated. Her brothers and sisters were honourary pallbearers. Her nephew Charles (Buddy) Lloyd gave the eulogy. Her nephew Blair Lloyd and Jeff Whitbread acted as ushers. Ann Schiltroth attended the memorial registry. Interment took place at Ross Park Cemetery. Lunch was served in the Northern Room of the Victoria Inn. The family would like to thank the ambulance attendants, the nurses and Dr. Amin for doing what they could for our mother. We would also like to give a very special thank you to Darren, Dana and Bayley for making a very difficult time a little easier. Memorial donations were made to a charity of one's choice.
