Patricia Marguerite Nelson Patricia (Pat) Nelson passed away on October 16, 2012 after a brief illness. Pat was born on January 14, 1933 in Flin Flon. She was the third child of Jack and Marguerite Burling. Pat was raised on Second Avenue along with her older brother Allan, sister Jeanette, and baby sister Donna. She attended school in Flin Flon. In Pat's youth, she was a member of The Glee Club and had a passion for learning. After her education she began a short career working at the Flin Flon Post Office and later in life worked at the Boam Street Residence. In 1954 she married her lifelong partner Roy Nelson. Together they went on to raise six children. Pat was a devoted wife and stay at home mom. Her pleasures included gardening, knitting, baking, reading and crosswords, handicrafts and sewing, and being an avid hockey fan. She was also an animal lover and welcomed many family pets into the home with the most recent being her own faithful companion Nanny who will remain as part of the family. During her life she did enjoy some traveling but truly enjoyed her home and Flin Flon. She also was a very proud Canadian and was extremely pleased to be able to tour Canada's capital city Ottawa. Pat was predeceased by her parents Jack and Marguerite, husband Roy, youngest son Allan, brother Allan and sister Jeanette. She is survived by her children Ted (Sue) Nelson, Diane Nelson, Laurie (Yen) Nelson, Barb (Russ) Dobson, Patrick (Linda Richard) Nelson; sister Donna (George) Hawes; extended family Christa (Rudy) Porras; sponsored son Sahabi; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial register attendant was Melissa Richard. Ushers were Wendy Garuk and Kim Rainville. A grave side service was held at East Hillside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were all of her children with Auntie Donnie on behalf of Allan. Honourary pallbearers were all of her friends. Lunch followed at the Royal Canadian Legion served by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. By Mary Elizabeth Frye Pat's family would like to send special thanks to her caregivers and doctors for the excellent care and compassion during her stay on the third floor at the Flin Flon General Hospital. Thanks to Dana and Darren for your guidance. Also many thanks go out to all who dropped by, sent cards, made donations to World Vision, gave gifts of food and flowers, and did acts of kindness and assisted the family. You are in our hearts forever.
