Preparations are underway for next summer’s second installment of the Blueberry Jam Music Gathering.

A general meeting was held on Nov. 1 to name board members and discuss ways to expand the gathering for next year.

The board is chock-full of familiar names in the Flin Flon and area arts scene. Edgar Wright was named the group’s chair, with Linda Eryou holding the vice-chair spot. Elly Spencer will serve as the board’s secretary. Lynn Brown was named treasurer and Mark Kolt will be tasked with production, a similar role to the one he held for this past summer’s event.

Marketing was assigned to Crystal Kolt, and Mike Spencer and Elfriede Reimer will be in charge of fundraising and volunteer coordination, respectively. Debbie MacDonald was named committee chair for site management.

The board will also include Kevin Sattelberger as a youth representative and four members at large – Ted Elliott, Ken Pawlachuk, Bernice Snyder and Brad Snyder. Kim Sattelberger will be an observer for the project.

“It went really well. We now have our first board of directors,” said Crystal Kolt, adding the board was encouraged by the reception last summer’s first-ever gathering at the Flinty Campground and Rotary Wheel.

“It was really well attended and there will be great conversation and great support by the community as it moves forward. It’s really quite exciting.”

No big changes for next year’s gathering have yet been confirmed. Kolt said any changes to the formula from last year will be made closer to the event itself.

“This is the big new thing, moving into this next level. The next conversation will be talking about all the new things as the event moves on.”
