At the beginning of September, Karine announced that her baby’s heart had stopped beating, a few days before the birth. A situation for which words fail. However, Karine finds some comfort in sharing her experience with her web community.
The influencer took a moment to share a carousel of photos that were taken to commemorate their little Charles, along with text that says more.
Karine explained that the situation is not a first in her family, while her mother experienced the same tragedy. His words are moving:
“On September 1, 2026, I became an orphaned mother.
The risk of losing a baby without abnormalities, in perfect health, following an uncomplicated pregnancy, a few days after birth, is approximately 0.02%.
This corresponds to less than 90 births in Canada per year.
It happened to my mother. It just happened to me.
I never thought lightning could strike the same place twice. I never thought that my body would violently betray me, just a few days from the finish line. I never thought that my heart would beat and not my baby’s. I never would have thought that my body would no longer be synonymous with security for the human I love most in the world. I never thought it was humanly possible to be in this much pain. Hurts every cell in my body.
Every part of me mourns the death of my baby who I loved and wanted deeply from the first second. Every particle of my being wants to hold him, touch him, rock him, kiss him, look at him. I wanted everything from him, everything.
I gave birth in my lover’s arms, pressed against him. He would have traded his life so that his baby could live. Charles has the best dad in the world.
I had to give life, but I gave death. »
