Teen wrestler Carson Lee has left empty-handed after competing at the United World Wrestling (UWW) World Cadet Championships.

The Flin Flonner joined Team Canada as the entrant in the men’s 76-kg freestyle class at the meet, held in Athens, Greece from Sept. 4 to 10.

Lee was defeated in his qualifying match against Islam Aliev of Azerbaijan, who won 10-0 on technical superiority in exactly
one minute.

Earlier this year, Lee, 16, earned silver medals at the UWW Pan-American Championships and the Canada Games, where he wrestled for Team Manitoba.

Lee and his brother Hunter were honoured at a ceremony at the Manitoba legislature Sept. 14 for their Canada Games performance, though they did not attend in person. Other Manitoba medalists were present. Hunter earned a gold medal during the tournament.

Medal winners were awarded Order of the Buffalo Hunt medals. Those in attendance met with Premier Brian Pallister and other dignitaries.
