An up-and-down season has ended with a Greenstone Hockey League championship for the Flin Flon-Creighton team.

The team earned its first title since teams from the two communities combined, taking down Sandy Bay 8-6 in the league championship game.

It was a close game, with the two teams swapping leads five times over the course of the match. Finally, Flin Flon-Creighton scored with two minutes remaining in the game to pull ahead, followed by a final insurance marker.

The Flin Flon-Creighton team defeated Frontier Collegiate on its way to the semi finals, while Sandy Bay got in with an upset win over first-place Deschambault Lake.

Flin Flon-Creighton started the season well, winning their first four games before being topped by Pelican Narrows. Since then, the team had a topsy-turvy season, finishing behind Deschambault Lake in the overall league standings.
