Bombers lose shootout thriller to Estevan

After more than 65 exciting minutes of hockey, the Flin Flon Bombers got one point - but not two. The Estevan Bruins played the role of spoiler, beating the Bombers 5-4 at the Whitney Forum Saturday night.

After more than 65 exciting minutes of hockey, the Flin Flon Bombers got one point - but not two. The Estevan Bruins played the role of spoiler, beating the Bombers 5-4 at the Whitney Forum Saturday night.

Jason Miller sunk the dagger into Bomber fans with the lone goal in the shootout, clinching the win for Estevan. None of the three shooters used by the Bombers scored during their attempts.

Bruins goalie Nic Tallarico used every inch of his 5'6 frame in the win, making 47 saves on 51 shots. Brandon Lesko led the way for the Bombers with two goals, while Kristian St. Onge finished with a goal and an assist. Jason Lavallee also notched a goal for the Bombers and Rylee Zimmer got two assists.

The Bombers have at least one point in each of their last four games and have 20 points on the season, putting them in first place in the Sherwood Division.

The Bombers will play their next game at the Whitney Forum against the defending Canalta Cup champion Melfort Mustangs on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
