The Flin Flon Bombers treated fans to a goal-scoring festival Saturday night, beating Melville 7-0.

It's not every night you see a hockey team win a game by a touchdown, but the Bombers managed it Saturday night, with seven different goalscorers getting on the scoresheet.

Nate Hooper got the party started with a goal eight minutes into the game. Reigning league Rookie of the Week Chrystopher Collin added his eighth goal in seven games shortly afterward.

Captain Ben Lanfermann fired one past Millionaires netminder Josh King to make it 3-0, only 28 seconds into the second period. King was pulled after the Bombers' third goal, making only nine saves on 12 shots.

King's replacement Colby Entz didn't fare much better. The Bombers peppered Entz, with Mason Martin and Caleb Moretz both finding twine within three minutes of Entz entering the crease.

Tyler Nyman added a powerplay goal midway through the second to give the Bombers a 6-0 lead. Nick Shumlanski, just to be on the safe side, added a seventh goal in the first minute of the third period to seal the deal.

Entz made 33 saves in just under 40 minutes of play, giving up four goals.

On the other side of the ice, Bomber goalie Brenden Newton was an island of stability, making 23 saves for his first shutout of the season. Newton has played every minute of the season for the Bombers so far, leading the league in both goals against average and save percentage after seven games.

The Bombers become the third team in the SJHL to hit double-digits in points, sitting at 10 points after seven games. The team has gone 4-1-0-2, only losing one game in regulation so far this season. Flin Flon currently sits in third place overall in the league and second place in the Sherwood Division, trailing only the undefeated Melfort Mustangs.

Flin Flon will play a pair of home games against Kindersley on Oct. 6 and 7 before heading out on a lengthy road trip.
