The latest chapter of the Hanson Lake Road rivalry went to the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

An up-and-down performance by the Flin Flon Bombers led to a 4-3 overtime loss against the SJHL's lowest-ranked team.

Donavan Houle-Villeneuve kicked things off with an early goal, giving the Bombers a fast lead. After La Ronge's Egan Wolford tied up the game, Mike Wong got the Bombers back on top with a hard-fought goal - and an enthusiastic celebration. A goal from Matthew Perkins tied the game up in the second period, leaving both teams tied heading into the third.

Rob Johnson pumped home a power play tally to give Flin Flon the lead, but Connor Smith spoiled the party with a late game-tying goal for La Ronge.

Regulation solved nothing - overtime commenced. It didn't take too long for a winner to be found - La Ronge, getting a goal by Mitch Zambon and earning the second point.

Colten Lancaster made 32 saves for the Bombers, while La Ronge's Merek Pipes made 39 saves in the win.

Flin Flon has received at least one point in eight of the team's past nine games. The Bombers have had lousy luck in overtime this season, winning only once in seven tries. Flin Flon has lost three games in the shootout and another three in 3-on-3 OT.

With one point received Friday night, the Bombers keep track with the Kindersley Klippers in the overall league points race. The Klippers have 37 points on the season, just ahead of the Bombers' 36 points. Kindersley has three games in hand on Flin Flon.

La Ronge only has eight wins this season and 18 total points, the lowest total in the league. Three of the team's wins have come against Flin Flon. The Bombers still lead the two teams' 10-game season series 4-3.

The Bombers will play their next four games on the road, including a three-games-in-three-nights southern road swing. Flin Flon will face Melville, Yorkton and Humboldt on Jan. 25, 26 and 27.
