The Reminder is pleased to introduce Sharon Kirkup as our new advertising sales rep.

Sharon brings a strong business background along with great people skills and a genuine desire to help businesses and organizations succeed.

“I’m very excited to join The Reminder staff,” she says.

“I’ve worked in sales probably 35 years of my life and I love people, and I love Flin Flon very much. I find the people here incredible.”

Sharon got her first taste of sales while growing up on her family’s farm in Deleau, Manitoba, outside Brandon, where she helped sell livestock and dairy to customers and auction marts.

She went on to sell farm parts, tires, clothing and nutritional products. In her early 20s, she even went door to door selling encyclopaedias.

A grandmother of three, Sharon moved to Flin Flon five years ago. She also works as lounge manager for the Flin Flon Curling Club – a position she will keep.

She is active in the community, regularly attending events at the Royal Canadian Legion and concerts at Johnny’s Social Club, where her daughter, Kim Jones, is on the roster of talented performers.

Sharon says The Reminder offers businesses and organizations a range of options for effectively getting their messages out. She looks forward to introducing herself to business owners in the coming weeks.

She is always available to discuss business and advertising opportunities. Sharon can be reached by phone at 204-687-3454
or by email at sales@thereminder.ca.

Other changes

Meanwhile, Tamara Beeharry has brought her creativity and eye for detail to The Reminder staff as our new graphic designer.

Tamara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Advertising and Graphic Design from Curtin University in Perth, Australia.

Originally from the island of Mauritius, she previously worked as a graphic designer for the advertising agency McCann.

New to Flin Flon and the newspaper industry, Tamara looks forward to continuing to build her profile.

In other changes, Shannon Thompson is taking on an expanded role in her position as office manager.

Shannon will facilitate the day-to-day operations of the newspaper, and will be the primary contact person for customers.

She joined The Reminder in 1988, when it was still owned by founder Tom Dobson, and is a respected and integral part of the success of our business.

Shannon’s new duties come as Reminder publisher Valerie Durnin takes on an expanded role with our parent company, Glacier Media.

Valerie will be publisher of The Reminder as well as newspapers in the Saskatchewan communities of Humboldt and Tisdale.

“I’m really excited to welcome our new employees and to see our existing staff grow,” Valerie said of the changes at The Reminder. “We’re looking forward to what we can do as a team.”
