Snow Lake received a Manitoba Community Emergency Preparedness Award this week. The award is given to areas with emergency plans that best meet provincial standards.

The town is one of three areas to earn the award, joining the RM of East St. Paul and the City of Steinbach.

Among other perks, Snow Lake will receive a framed certificate and several road signs that say “We are a Prepared Community.” The signs will be placed throughout the Snow Lake area.

The Snow Lake emergency plan consists of almost a hundred pages of notes and information, detailing individual responsibilities, hazard analysis and evacuation planning.
