Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce members are getting creative when it comes to potential new fundraisers.

Members discussed possible fundraisers at their Tuesday, Oct. 11 meeting, held at the Friendship Centre restaurant.

Several ideas were proposed. One member suggested the chamber sponsor the Festival of Trees. The festival, held annually in Creighton, had been an initiative of the now-defunct
CADAC Centre.

Other ideas floated by members included a furniture raffle, a partnership with a hot air balloon company in Winnipeg and even a bachelor auction involving chamber members.

Members did not approve any suggestions, but some may be discussed at future meetings.

Bylaws

Change could be on the horizon for the chamber, as several potential bylaw changes were brought up during the meeting.

The proposals will come to a vote during the chamber’s annual general meeting, scheduled for Nov. 8.

If enacted, the revisions would change multiple rules and committees associated with the organization. Regulations surrounding chamber quorum, committee positions and meeting times will be up for a vote.

The proposed changes remain under review by chamber members. The chamber has not updated  its bylaws since 2002.

Conference

The meeting’s featured speaker was Becky Cianflone, general manager of Community Futures Greenstone.

She discussed the group’s upcoming Infusion Entrepreneurship Conference and detailed some of the events planned.
