There will be plenty of time to fiddle around in Cranberry Portage.

Cranberry Portage Elementary School is hosting the Frontier School Division Area 4 Fiddle Jam this week.

About 150 students from across the region were expected to participate in the two-day event, which will offer workshops with some of the top fiddle instructors in the province.

“It’s very intensive,” says principal Donnie Grenier.

Grades 4 to 8 students from Cranberry Portage, Snow Lake, Cold Lake, Cormorant and Churchill were scheduled to participate in the Fiddle Jam, now in its third year.

The event will culminate with two public performances by the students, on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 pm and on Friday, Feb. 24 at 2:30 pm.

Both performances will be in the Frontier Collegiate Institute gymnasium. There is no charge to attend.

“It’s a great showcase for our students,” says Grenier.
