Members of the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce will soon pay a little more for membership.
“The executive has voted for a small increase in fees,” announced chamber president Karen MacKinnon at the Jan. 9 meeting, when the increase was publicly announced.
With the price jump in effect, home businesses will now pay $40 per year to participate in chamber. Individual rates will increase to $30 a year, with organization, institution and association rates increasing to $150 a year.
Other fees and classifications, including most groupings for businesses with multiple employees, will not be changed.
MacKinnon also announced the Chamber’s next guest speaker at the meeting – Alan McLauchlan, former mayor of The Pas. McLauchlan will speak on behalf of Travel Manitoba as a hired consultant on the group’s northern tourism strategy.
“I know Al personally. He’s a retired RCMP officer and past mayor of The Pas,” said MacKinnon. “Him and his wife have a passion for the north, so I have to congratulate Travel Manitoba on hiring him. I expect big things from him and I hope he’ll do an excellent job.”
