Breakthrough for Snow Lake lithium project

Promising exploration results are prompting talk of an access road to a northern Manitoba lithium property, a step that would assist further exploration and enable delivery of ore to a processing facility if warranted.

Far Resources announced additional dykes containing spodumene – a lithium-bearing mineral – have been discovered
adjacent to high-grade lithium rocks at the Zoro Lithium Property outside Snow Lake.

In a July 3 news release, Far said “the new dykes were exposed in multiple trenches and pits and in outcrop” between two of the seven known lithium-bearing dykes at Zoro. These zones were previously unreported in government assessments of the property.

“Accordingly, potential exists for new spodumene-bearing dykes” adjacent to four of the other dykes, with the area to become the focus of Far’s 2017 field work, the company said.

Keith Anderson, president and CEO of Far, said the discovery of the new dykes “is exciting and opens up new exploration possibilities for us.”

Far is “investigating the building of an access road to the property along pre-existing infrastructure, which will facilitate exploration and potential delivery of lithium ore to a processing facility,” he said.

Anderson said development of exploration tools applicable to Zoro is ongoing with guidance from geologists Dr. Robert Linnen of the University of Western Ontario and Dr. Tania Martin of the Manitoba Geological Survey.

The BC-based Far is positioning itself “to fully realize Zoro’s potential” by establishing drill programs and creating a 3D model of the property to assist in exploration, he said in Far’s news release.

Anderson added that Far’s “multi-faceted approach to exploration”  at Zoro will guide the company as it moves toward a guideline-compliant resource estimate for the property.

Zoro is situated 10 km northeast of tiny Herb Lake Landing, which in turn is located 53 road km southeast of Snow Lake.

Elsewhere, Rockcliff Copper Corp. announced this week it is offering up to 20 million units at six cents apiece for gross proceeds of up to $1.2 million. The offering is subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval.

Net proceeds will fund exploration at Rockcliff’s Snow Lake Project, situated in the Snow Lake region, and for general working capital purposes, the company said.
