Another Hudbay union has backed a strike mandate.

USW Local 9338, which represents 115 office and technical workers, voted 79.5 per cent in favour of a strike mandate last week, a member tells The Reminder.

Turnout for the vote was 75 per cent, or 86 of 115 members.

The vote does not mean Local 9338 will go on strike, but the bargaining committee now has that option if members reject Hudbay’s yet-to-be-presented final offer.

USW Local 7106, by far Hudbay’s largest union with about 650 members, also favoured a strike mandate last week.

The same is true of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 828, which has 18 members.
