The 26th annual Cranberry Portage Trout Challenge saw 126 anglers of all ages out for the two-day catch and release tournament last weekend on Lake Athapapuskow. The fun began on Friday evening with a boat parade, and a smoked trout contest in honour of Cameron McLean, and wrapped up with an awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

First place went to Jeff Churchmuch and Danielle Thomas, with Blaine Hyska and Randy Boychuk taking second.

Father-son team Jason and Dylan Penney won the Family Fish award. Dylan, who hails from King’s Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, also won a special prize recognizing the angler who travelled the farthest to attend the tournament.
