What would be your top priorities if elected?
My top priority if elected is dealing with the break-ins and vandalism at the Beach right now. I don’t believe that it’s being completely dealt with. The RCMP are doing their job. I believe the justice system and social services are failing, and I believe council as a whole has to deal with social services and the justice system to get some consequences for the actions.
Crime has become a major concern for many Denare Beach residents. As a councillor, how would you approach this issue?
As I said in the first question, I believe that it has to be dealt with by the council and it has to be dealt with through dealing with social services and dealing with the justice system. I don’t believe the Crown or the judge is seeing this as a serious problem, and council as a whole has to – if it means make appearance at court, or – they have to be in contact with these two groups and get some consequences for the crime that’s being done.
What skills would you bring to village council?
I guess I feel the skills I bring to council are I did three years on council in Creighton. I did six years on council at the Beach. I believe I have a significant amount of experience. The reason I was off of council, shift work, hard to attend meetings, and now that I’m retired I believe attending meetings won’t be an issue and I can bring past experience to the new council.
