Introduce yourself to the public.

My name is Jeff Lane. I moved here from small town Saskatchewan 28 years ago, and I have been a resident of the Town of Creighton for the past 21 years. I am retired from the Flin Flon School Division. My wife and I raised four children in the community, and we are proud to call this our home.

What is the single biggest challenge facing Creighton and what would you do to address this challenge?

We have a few challenges in our community that are of concern. One is the ability to attract new businesses and corporations to invest in our area. Presently, the mining industry is the main source of employment in the community. Everything tends to be governed by the solidity of this industry.

If new businesses could be enticed to invest in our area, they could provide additional revenue and new employment opportunities for the residents of Creighton and surrounding communities. Possibly advertising internationally, and offering enticing incentives for these corporations, could bring interest from them.

Another challenge is to enhance the health care services available in our community for our Saskatchewan residents. Many services should be brought here on an itinerant basis that would save the long travel to the major cities for our residents, many of whom are unable to afford the trips out.

What is your long-term vision for Creighton?

My long-term vision for the Town of Creighton is for it to be known as a great community to live in, with employment opportunities and services for all.

What do you believe makes you qualified to sit on council?

Having been a resident of the immediate area for the past 28 years, I am aware of the past and present issues that have affected Creighton, both good and bad. I have also spent the past seven years on town council, so I feel I understand the duties and responsibilities that accompany the job. I would be pleased to serve the community for another term on town council.
